DARY Humanitarian Organization represented IRAQ in Webinar of Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) with World Health Organization (WHO) to discuss the
PUBLIC HEALTH AND SOCIAL MEASURES FOR COVID-19 PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE IN LOW CAPACITY AND HUMANITARIAN SETTINGS.
And the attendance was more than 110 persons from all around the world and international agencies as well as UN agencies and under supervising of IASC and WHO- Geneve and Global Health cluster, while (Dr. HUR AMER SALMAN) / Head of Medical Committee represent DARY and IRAQ.
And during the Brief, Dr. HUR mentioned the experience of DARY Human Organization about how to deal with COVID-19 and preventive measurement in its Healthcare centers and Mobile clinics, such as Temperature measuring in the entrances and exits, ensuring physical spacing, beneficiaries promotions how to wear mask and hand sanitizing, staff training on infection prevention control (IPC), awareness and Health promotion about (COVID-19) through Static and Mobile clinics and inside the camps.
And during the Brief, Dr. HUR mentioned some of challenges and main obstacles which facing Humanitarian service providers and NGOs, like access issues and staff/supplies transportation, delay of DOH staff salaries for months which reflected negatively on the staff and demotivate them.
And represent of DARY/IRAQ the coping strategies to solve this abovementioned issues through coordination with access working groups, and incidents reporting, access letters for staff/supplies, coordination and maintain relations with DoH to assign health staff working in the Health facilities within the camps and outside the camps as well as providing ambulances for referral.
Also that strategies involved the mechanisms of coordination with national and sub-national health cluster with camp managements and other partners to work inside the camps and providing services smoothly, coordination with returnees working groups to know the families that leaving the camps and for example on that coordination, DARY’s teams supervising the families movement assessment, also coordination with DoH in returnees areas and follow up them at their arrive.
At the end of DARY’s brief, Dr. HUR ensured that the Organization can apply the guidance of IASC of preparedness and respond of COVID-19 in low capacity and humanitarian settings after making some adjustment to match the possibilities of IRAQ regulations and policies
